Wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy your yard this summer, free from worries about mosquitoes and the diseases they carry? And wouldn’t it be great not to have to deal with messy mosquito sprays and smelly repellents?
Imagine telling your smart speaker to turn on mosquito protection before heading outdoors to sit by the pool, throw a ball to your dog, or watch your kids play in the yard. With a Thermacell LIV system, this could be your summer reality.
How Does Thermacell LIV Work?
East End Tick and Mosquito Control® is a proud supplier and installer of state-of-the-art Thermacell LIV smart mosquito repellent systems. The Thermacell LIV creates a year-round zone of mosquito protection designed specifically for your outdoor space.
The Thermacell Smart Hubs plug will be installed at the designated intervals to create a sort of protective shield. It can be turned on and off manually, via app, or through your smart speaker. Thermacell LIV uses heat-activated cartridges that vaporize repellent into a designated 20-foot zone of protection. The Thermacell system is quiet, scent-free, and unobtrusive.
What Bugs Does Thermacell Keep Away?
While Thermacell is known primarily as a mosquito repellent, it has been found effective against black flies and midges (also known as sand flies or no-see-ums). Thermacell may also repel other types of flies, as well as flying ants.
Is Thermacell Safe Around Babies?
When used as directed, Thermacell is safe for use around babies or children – and during pregnancy. The Environmental Protection Agency has thoroughly reviewed Thermacell and its active ingredient. They issue no Thermacell advisories, apart from standard safety protocols like keeping insect repellents out of reach of children.
Is Thermacell Safe for Dogs? Is Thermacell Safe for Cats?
Because its active ingredient has a low toxicity when inhaled by most mammals, Thermacell products are safe for use around most pets. As with any pesticide, do not allow pets to lick, chew, or consume Thermacell hardware or cartridges, or any food or object exposed to Thermacell. Do not use Thermacell in close proximity to fish ponds or other bodies of water inhabited by fish or aquatic invertebrates, as it may be hazardous to those species.
Is Thermacell Safe for the Bees?
When used as directed, Thermacell is safe for bees and most types of wildlife. Because Thermacell’s active ingredient is vaporized as opposed to sprayed directly on bees or consumed as a liquid or solid, studies show no observable impact on foraging bees.
How Long Does Thermacell LIV Last?
Each Thermacell cartridge has an average life of 40 hours of use. Repellent levels can be monitored either visually or in the LIV+ app. When not connected to the app, a warning light will flash on the cartridge when levels are low.
Is Thermacell Safe to Eat Around?
While studies indicate that residue from Thermacell products is virtually undetectable, the manufacturer doesn’t recommend using Thermacell in close proximity to uncovered food. Thermacell is working with the EPA to clarify food safety best practices but – in the meantime – they suggest that users keep uncovered food outside the zone of protection.
