Most people believe that colder temperatures kill ticks but we’re here to let you know that myth is FALSE. During the fall season (October and November), ticks are active and looking to feed as they know winter is on the horizon and they’ll need to survive until spring.
As long as they are not covered in snow, adult black-legged tick, also known as deer ticks, will remain active and searching for blood when temperatures remain above 32 degrees Fahrenheit AND if bitten, you’re at risk for Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.
Every day was above freezing last year and if you want to protect yourself and your family, the time to start planning is NOW. We’ve introduced a new granular, winter tick-control treatment, Tick Shield. This clay-coated, encapsulated acaricide (tick-killing compound) is applied monthly from the months of December through March, stays in place, and kills ticks when they emerge from their hiding spots in leaf litter and mulch looking for blood. Tick Shield helps provide protection during the gap between fall and spring and is the ultimate in year-round tick protection.
Year Round Tick Protection
This new program is unique in that its granules are barely noticeable after application but is stable enough to kill ticks as it releases its acaricide slowly. Tick Shield is offered exclusively by East End Tick & Mosquito Control®, call us today for more information. Call today to discuss year-round tick prevention plans.
